A Boy Named Barbara is stepping into the music world with his debut album, “This Is Who You Are.” Known for his genre-defying style, A Boy Named Barabara is creating their own path in the music scene. With 12 tracks crafted in collaboration with Dave Wood and Daniel Capallero (XIXI), the album promises a journey through themes of purpose, doubt, contentment, and self-expression.
A Boy Named Barbara exudes a fearless sense of individuality, pouring a sense of freedom and self-determination into each song. Their music features everything from vibrant beats to softer sounds, capturing the essence of his LGBTQ+ community with an unapologetic spirit.
The album opens with “Bones,” setting a powerful tone with its deep, resonant beats. “Feelin Good” offers an uplifting vibe, while “Curious” explores themes of exploration and self-discovery. “Slow It Down” provides a moment of reflection, contrasting with the energetic “Closer To You.” The title track, “This Is Who You Are,” encapsulates the album’s essence, blending the audacity of RuPaul, the innovation of Rick Rubin, and the timeless appeal of Mark Ronson. Each song contributes to a cohesive, thought-provoking, and infectious album that showcases Barbara’s vision and how they want to truly project that. Although they’re steadily releasing each track, being “Curious,” “If You Only Knew,” and “Calling Out,” A Boy Named Barabara is keeping us on our toes.
