WLOY presents “The Encore,” where we spotlight our favorite artists that have visited the station. This week: Tim Lockemy!

Tim Lockemy is an indie rock singer/songwriter and lifestyle model hailing from the Baltimore area, with over 25 years in the music scene. He started off in high school as the frontman and guitarist for Ten Penny Thread, a band that pulled heavily from the 90s rock scene with influences like Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. After high school, Lockemy’s musical style shifted toward the 80s, drawing from artists like Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears, which led to the release of his first EP, “Standing Alone,” in 2005.

Fast forward a decade, and Lockemy re-entered the music world with his EP “Machine,” embracing a darker industrial and synth-driven sound. In recent years, his releases have varied from stripped-down acoustic singles to more indie rock vibes. His single “Just Maybe” in 2020 saw him return to a more classic rock setup, reminding listeners of his band-oriented roots.

Lockemy was also featured on the 2020 “Charm City Sampler” interviews, where he talked about life in quarantine and live music, all while casually mentioning he helped build the studio they were recording in. Though he hasn’t dropped any new tracks lately, his EP “Kingdoms” is available across streaming platforms, and fans are eagerly waiting for his next release.
