The Encore: Berry the Band

WLOY presents “The Encore,” where we spotlight our favorite artists that have visited the station. This week: Berry the Band!

Berry the Band was formed when guitarist and vocalist Joey Lemon and drummer Paul Goodenough connected at a music program. The duo soon brought in keyboardist Matt Aufrecht, a college friend who shared their passion for creating original sounds. After releasing a few EPs and experiencing slow progress, the group sought to revitalize their sound with the addition of bass player Shane Bordeau, who became a permanent member. Over the years, their music evolved, capturing their experiences on the road and their growth as both musicians and individuals.

Anna Markulis ’23, the Music Director, caught up with the group back in 2021, as they’ve been together for 20 years. The group, consisting of Joey Lemon on guitar and vocals, Paul Goodenough on drums, and Shane Bordeau on bass, shared their journey from their early days in college to touring across the country. Currently, Berry is channeling their energy into the studio, working on a new album that blends their seasoned sound with fresh ideas, promising something special for their fans both old and new. Their newest album, “Half-Life” is out now!
