WLOY presents “The Encore,” where we spotlight our favorite artists that have visited the station. This week: Acid Dad!
Acid Dad, an alternative-rock trio from the US, consists of the dynamic duo of singer-guitarists Vaughn Hunt and Sean Fahey, along with drummer Trevor Mustoe. Vaughn began the band’s journey in his Bushwick, NY basement, where they dropped their first tracks, including “Brain Body” and “Let’s Plan a Robbery.” After hitting the NYC rock scene in 2016, they quickly found international fame with their 2018 self-titled debut album.
By 2021, they were not only producing all their music and art independently but also building their own guitars. They crafted their second LP, “Take It From The Dead,” and established a studio in Queens, NY, which was unfortunately lost to Hurricane Ida. WLOY’s Anna Markulis ’23 met with drummer, Trevor Mustoe in 2o21 to chat about the experience of life and musical output during that time. The band was currently on their U.S. tour and has obviously bounced back from Ida’s causality. Anna and Trevor’s interview can be found here!
In 2022, they’re back with a fresh 7” single, “Get Me High,” featuring a surreal video by Webb Hunt, and a live-recorded B-side, “Brain Body,” from Shaky Knees Festival. This October, they’re set to tour the USA with Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, making stops at festivals like Desert Daze and Levitation. Vaughn, Sean, and Trevor continue to push boundaries and create music with an unmistakable, raw energy.
