Review: 2hollis began his music career in the early 2020s, quickly becoming a leading figure in the genre of hyperpop. With the genre hyperpop slowly gaining more attention around this time 2hollis fit right into the mold with others at the time. His style consisting of metallic sound design and suppressed vocals made it easy for 2hollis to establish a futuristic sound different from the usual sound within the genre. Known for his intense pace and frequent experimentation, his new album Star served as a development from his previous work.
On his newly released album, listeners will find the song “Flash.” The track alone is a standout piece on Star and offers an up-beat fast paced signature style that 2hollis caters to on most of his released music. Lyrically, the song is not different from any other song in the genre, which is not a bad thing. Within the Hyperpop community, it is accepted that the most important part of a song is the level of production. The production mirrors the sound of acceleration as throughout the song it progressively builds over time, becoming faster.
Overall I believe the song is something that stands out on his new album and provides a good listen for anyone looking for a rush. Personally, I enjoy 2hollis’s new album and I have enjoyed his discography as a whole. If you like this track, I would give the entire album Star a listen and I would also recommend checking out some of his previous albums as well, especially the album Boy which I believe is his best album so far.
