Indie pop darlings Peach Pit are back and better than ever with the release of the deluxe edition of From 2 to 3. This record leans into late night longing with the help of dreamy guitar textures and a band more confident than ever in their identity.
This re-release of “Am I Your Girl” swaps out their signature laid-back melancholy for something more kinetic. The drums hit a bit harder, the bass is funkier, and the synth groove that drives the song adds a shimmer that feels made for a dance party in your room. Neil Smith’s vocals keep that bittersweet edge, which makes the lyrics contrast the upbeat sound and the kinda lonely lyrics hit even harder. It’s the kind of track that makes you feel a little heartbroken, but in a way where you’re still dancing and maybe spinning around in your room dramatically.
As part of the deluxe album, it’s a cool way to show off a different side of the band. They’re known for their chill sound, but this proves they’re not afraid to mess around and have fun with it too!
