While out and about in Mt. Vernon one must visit Dooby’s Café. I would be confident in describing it as a hipster-modern destination with great food and drinks. The inside is inviting with a modern design and rustic tables. Dooby’s Café serves absolutely delicious food! Get a filling Steak & Egg Sandwich, made with cheddar, gochujang aioli, and caramelized onions. Or, go big with the Homestyle Breakfast, featuring two over-easy eggs, chicken sausage, bacon, hash and toast. They also serve sandwiches like the Korean BBQ Cheesesteak, and yummy noodles. After stuffing your face with Dooby’s delicious entrees, dive into their Damn Good Pie, consisting of Brûléed buttermilk tart with a chocolate cookie crumble crust! Two please! They also offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options!

Tourism Tuesday: Mount Vernon

November 10th, 2015 by WLOY Staff

mt vernonWhat: Mount Vernon (Neighborhood)

Where: Between N Calvert and Franklin

When: Anytime!

When I am “touristing” I think one of my favorite things to do is to visit new neighborhoods. Luckily, in Baltimore there is a wealth of neighborhoods to visit, one them being Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon is located just north of downtown Baltimore. It is a beautiful and historical neighborhood, it is known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in Baltimore. It houses the first Washington Monument; it’s hard to miss! Along with its history there are great restaurants and other cool spots to see.
Check out Dooby’s while you’re in the neighborhood or maybe have a nice read at the beautiful George Peabody Library, or marvel at the grandeur of Mt. Vernon place United Methodist Church. I would recommend to simply sit down on a park bench, while it is still fall, and enjoy the scenery!

Theater Thursday: Jerry Seinfeld

November 5th, 2015 by WLOY Staff

Jerry Seinfeld What: Jerry Seinfeld

Where: Meyerhoff Symphony Hall

When: Nov 6, 7pm and 930pm

This Friday, November 6, one of my favorite comedians, Jerry Seinfeld, will be performing at the Meyerhoff symphony Hall! You may know him from the show… Seinfeld, it’s pretty popular. Seinfeld is one the most famous comedians out there, his jokes are derived from observational skills rather than crude humor; commenting on everyday habits and behaviors of people in the funniest way. He is has been in the comedy game for over 10 years, really starting off with his show Seinfeld.
Make sure to come out November 6th, as it will be his only night in Baltimore! You know you don’t want to miss out on a good laugh!
