Explore Baltimore: Diablo Doughnuts

January 31st, 2017 by WLOY Staff

What: Diablo Doughnuts

Where: 717 S. Broadway

When: Wednesday-Friday 7am-1pm, Saturday-Sunday 7am-3pm

Michael Roslan, a born and raised Baltimorean started making doughnuts as a pass-time, but then realized his talent and created Diablo Doughnuts, the best doughnut shop in Baltimore. Roslan’s freshly baked doughnuts made with local ingredients will tempt you into buying a dozen the second you lay eyes on them. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw the picture in this article and ran over to 717 S. Broadway right now!

Diablo Doughnuts offers some amazing traditional doughnuts with Roslan’s own twist and original flavors. Want something sugary? Try the Unicorn Farts doughnut. Something savory? Try the Maple Bacon doughnut. Something sweet? Try the Cherry Cheesecake. Feeling adventurous? How about Sin Crunch then. With all these great options, I am getting hungry just writing about Diablo Doughnuts!

Review by: Stephen Vanyo

Gift Shop– Jokes Jokes Jokes

Rate: 9.5/10

I had the chance to catch Gift Shop live when one of my bands played the same show that they did in a garage in suburban Nazareth PA. The PA was quiet and noise were just bouncing off the walls but even with all that, they sounded like they belonged on much larger stages. Gift Shop is the project started by former members of the gone-to-soon pop punk act Grandview as well as fellow massachusetts band The Dirty Looks.  Read the rest of this entry »

Explore Baltimore: Beautiful

January 25th, 2017 by WLOY Staff

What: Beautiful- The Carole King Musical

Where: The Hippodrome Theater, 12 N Eutaw St

When: January 24th-29th (Times)

Throughout the week, The Hippodrome will be putting on Beautiful, a musical that follows the life of Carole King and her rise to fame. Known to my generation as the voice of the Gilmore Girls theme and to past generations as the voice for their time, Carole King has left an ever lasting mark on our culture that this musical showcases. Beautiful tells the story of how Carole King fought her way into the record business at a young age, wrote songs with her friends/husband, and started her successful solo career. Along the plot of the story, this musical features many of King’s amazing hits like “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “You’ve Got a Friend”. With this inspiring story and great music, Beautiful will have you feeling the Earth move under your seat in the Hippodrome.
