Today commences one of the most spirited weeks at Loyola – Initium Week. What’s better way to get things going than to feature live music from WLOY?! WLOY will be on the Quad from 12-2 so come hang out! WLOY to be at Hampdenfest 9/11 Giving Away FREE Stuff!

WLOY will yet again be at Hampdenfest this year on Saturday, September 11th. We will be on The Avenue giving away FREE stuff (we would tell you but you have to stop by and say “hi” to find out!). HampdenFest began as a local community event, but in recent years has evolved into a neighborhood arts festival that draws visitors, as well as local residents, to enjoy the community of merchants on and around West 36th Street. Sponsored by the Hampden Village Merchants Association, in partnership with The Hampden Family Center, HampdenFest features 3 stages of music and art performances, an activity area for the kids, an emerging artists exhibit and a film festival, as well as four blocks of arts and crafts vendors, antiques, and other wares from a wide range of merchants and artists. Hampden itself has hundreds of local businesses which are consistently listed in Baltimore Magazine and the City Paper’s Best of Baltimore.

Nationally touring recording artist Rob Lytle has one of the most distinctive and engaging voices on the folk/acoustic scene, and a charismatic ability to deliver songs with an unaffected honesty and passion. He is best known as one of the mainstays of the Boston singer songwriter resurgence of the 90’s, and for his songs “Cry For The Working Man” and “That’s My Head That’s Talking” both of which have received worldwide airplay and praise. Join Player One tonight on Super Power Up! — from 9PM to 11PM here on WLOY — for an interview with Geoff Knorr and Michael Curran, the composer and lead audio director for the upcoming Civilization V! Geoff and Michael talk about the process of conceptualizing, designing, performing, and editing the music and other audio from Civilization V, as well as the evolution of the music and audio from earlier Civilization games. In addition to the interview, several tracks from the Civilization V soundtrack will also be aired! Tune in to WLOY, and enjoy!

Additions to Loyola Dining!

Newman Towers offers a second Il Piatto location to satiate your desire for delicious Italian cuisine, as well as the newly improved Newman Market.
