Wacky Wednesday: The Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival

Illuminated vegetables, 10-foot tall farmers, and dancing ladybugs… it’s only appropriate this is the first line of Wacky Wednesday, isn’t it? And you’ll find such creatures only at the Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival.
On Saturday, October 30th, from 3 to 9 PM head over to Patterson Park to see stilt walkers, huge floats, and 1,000 lanterns from members of the community and the world’s only giant, glowing vegetable garden in honor of this years theme – GROW! Read the rest of this entry »

Museum Monday: National Museum of Dentistry

For over four decades Bernice Johnson Reagon has been a major cultural voice for freedom and justice. An African American woman’s voice, a child of Southwest Georgia, a voice raised in song, born in the struggle against racism in America during the Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s, she is a composer, songleader, scholar and producer.

Food Friday: Jimmy’s Famous Seafood

What better way to get to know Baltimore than to get to know the things it’s best known for? That’s right. Crabs. And where else would you go besides Jimmy’s Famous Seafood to get the lesson. I mean, the name says it all.
Since 1974, Jimmy’s has been the nation’s staple when it comes to originality and innovation in seafood. Often ahead of the pack, their menu combines the freshest seafood in America for creative dishes, like steak stuffed with crabmeat, and traditional delicacies, like their famed jumbo lump crab cakes. But don’t be too intimidated by such a wide selection, they’ve got classic favorites as well, like monstrous burgers and crab nachos.
