1. 1969: Motown Records released “Someday We’ll Be Together” by Diana Ross & the Supremes. Though promoted as the final Supremes song featuring Ross, she recorded the track solo without the other group members.
2. 1977: Bing Crosby, one of the most popular crooners of the 20th century, passed away at 74. His rendition of “White Christmas” remains the best-selling single of all time, with over 50 million copies sold.
3. 1977: David Bowie released “Heroes,” the second album in his Berlin Trilogy, featuring electronic sounds and collaboration with Brian Eno.
4. 1983: Cyndi Lauper released her debut album “She’s So Unusual,” which became a major success, producing several hit singles like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Time After Time.”
5. 2009: Paul McCartney was named Songwriter of the Year at the ASCAP Awards, recognizing his massive contributions to music over the years.
