1. 1958: Elvis Presley was sworn into the U.S. Army as a private, beginning his two-year military service.

2. 1962: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards performed together for the first time as “Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys” at a club in Ealing, England.

3. 1986: Van Halen released their seventh studio album, “5150,” marking their first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 and the debut of Sammy Hagar as the band’s lead singer.

4. 2003: Linkin Park‘s album “Meteora” at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, solidifying their prominence in the nu-metal genre.

5. 2005: Canadian singer Alannah Myles started a two-week run at No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart with “Black Velvet.”
