Falkenstein, Bavaria: WLOY’s Secret Superfans

Who knew our second-largest group of listeners comes from a charming little Bavarian town? Shoutout to Falkenstein, Bavaria – population just over 3,000, but clearly packed with people who have excellent taste in radio.

Fun Facts About Falkenstein:
-The town is surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers.
-At over 1,270 meters (4,190 ft) above sea level, Falkenstein Castle is known as Germany’s highest castle.
-Traditional Bavarian bands, often called “oompah” bands, feature instruments such as the trumpet, trombone, clarinet, tuba, and accordion. These bands frequently perform at events like the annual Oktoberfest, village festivals, and in beer gardens.
