Join Waterfront Partnership for the 5th Annual Harbor Harvest on Saturday, October 20th from 10am to 2pm at West Shore Park. This free, family-friendly event will feature live music by Recess Monkey, an IKEA urban pumpkin patch, a hay maze, pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, face painting, games, arts and crafts, food trucks, drinks and more! RSVP for a free Harbor Harvest tote bag for kids (while supplies last). Harbor Harvest is sponsored by IKEA and Harborplace & The Gallery.

The League of Women Voters of Baltimore City is sponsoring a forum on two issues that will appear on the ballot in November, the Marriage Equality Act and the Maryland Dream Act. The forum is free and open to the public. Radio personality Marc Steiner will be moderating the forum.

Tourism Tuesday: “The House I Live In” Film Screening and Discussion

Filmed in more than twenty states, “The House I Live In” tells the stories of individuals at all levels of America’s War on Drugs. From the dealer to the narcotics officer, the inmate to the federal judge, the film offers a penetrating look inside America’s criminal justice system, revealing the profound human rights implications of U.S. drug policy. David Simon, creator of The Wire, will introduce “The House I Live In.” The film will be followed by a conversation with the director, writer and producer of “The House I Live In,” Eugene Jarecki, and Judge Andre Davis, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. The House I Live In is the winner of the 2012 Sundance Festival Grand Jury Prize for Documentary. This event is co-sponsored by the Maryland Film Festival and is part of OSI-Baltimore’s Talking About Race Series which continues to explore the many different facets of this complex subject. This event is free and open to the public.

Dam Jam 2012 is a celebration of the region’s drinking water reservoirs. Learn how we obtain and process our drinking water and the responsibilities we all share in protecting our water supply. Events include live music, historical reenactments, native wildlife presentations and more! Bring your chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to spend the day. Activities will take place both at Loch Raven Reservoir and at Baltimore County’s Cromwell Valley Park. Free shuttle buses will run continuously between the two sites.

Thursdays in August, from 4-7pm, the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore will offer half price admission for visitors who wish to see the animals and exhibits after closing time. Enjoy a laid back zoo experience with family and friends as well as food and drink specials provided by the concession stands.
