Stop on by the Baltimore Museum of Art for an awesome cultural experience! Now through July 3 BMA will be hosting the Matisse Prints and Drawings! BMA was able to acquire a wonderful collection of Matisse prints through the Cone sisters. They have the famous The Yellow Dress in this collection, gifted from New York City. This is a collection you really do not want to miss out on!

After a long day of work come down to the Baltimore Museum of Art for some smooth and relaxing jazz music. Antonio Sanchez is a critically acclaimed musician who won many awards for his score for the film Birdman. The Mexican born musician, who has spent 15 years as the right hand man to famous guitarist Pat Metheny is coming to our city. Expect to hear Mexican inspired jazz with insane drumbeats and international flare. Get ready for a fun and family friendly event that will get the whole family swinging.

Museum Monday: Gifts of Art for a New Century

What: New Arrivals- Gifts of Art for a New Century
Where: Baltimore Museum of Art

Skip away on your lunch break this Wednesday to Baltimore Museum of Art to get a guided tour of the new exhibition, New Arrivals: Gifts of Art for a New Century. This exhibit is composed of about 200 fresh pieces that tie in perfectly with pieces already in the exhibit. There will be paintings by the French artist, Pierre Bonnard, and some amazing Japanese screens.
These works will be accompanied by newer pieces like James Abbot McNeill Whistler’s Nocturne , great work from Cameroon, and smaller sculpture from Antoine Louis Barye.

Featuring Carlo Crivelli, an italian artist from the 15th century. Crivelli was a master of tempera and crafted absolutely fabulous work. So come see his “fresh” work, it’ll expose you to the luxuries of the 15th century!
You won’t want to miss opening day on February 28! There will be a special event featuring experts on Crivelli so you can learn firsthand the about the wonders of Crivelli.

Ok, well you can’t sleep in them or jump into an obnoxious pile of quilts but you can observe them at Baltimore Museum of Art’s, Art Quilt Exhibition! Running from now through to June 19th it is a great exhibition that will really catch your eye!
There are five quilts that have been added to the textile collection. These quilts have been artistically crafted by professionals to show their passion and a familiar way of expressing themselves. Stop by BMA these next few months and see a great exhibit!

Get your weekly dose of art and culture by going to Baltimore Museum of Arts new exhibit, Maryland Artists, running from February 7 to May 8! BMA has been collecting more and more of local and Maryland art! Yay for Maryland! This exhibition will be featuring works by Raoul Middleman, John Waters, Gabrielle DeVaux Clements and many others. Along side paintings there will be photographs by Elinor B. Cahn. For an excellent exhibit supporting fellow Marylanders make sure to stop by BMA this winter/spring.

Museum Monday: Beautiful Walls for Baltimore

Explore Baltimore is back and kicking off the New Year with focus on some very cool murals of Baltimore!
As many Baltimoreans know Charm City hosts some truly creative murals throughout the city. School 33 Art Center will be hosting the Beautiful Walls for Baltimore exhibit all throughout the month of January to highlight some of these amazing pieces of art. They are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Baltimore Mural Program. It will be featuring several kinds of works from famous re-created murals to written histories and photographs. This will be an eye-popping, colorful event that will be highlighting the great history of Baltimore and Baltimore’s people!
The gallery will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 4pm. You will have many an opportunity to visit!

Museum Monday: Charm City Ballet

We are getting closer and closer to the big 2-5! So we are going to keep going with this holiday biz. A Christmas Carol ballet will be hosted at Baltimore Museum of Art on December 19 from 730pm to 9pm. Enjoy the classic tale of a Scrooge who needs just a little holiday spirit told through the beautiful art of ballet!
Charm City Ballet focuses on expanding the performing arts, specifically ballet. They focus on providing full-length shows.
Tickets for members start at $17, $22 for gen admission and $25 at door, $17 for students and children.

Museum Monday: A Carroll’s Christmas

It is officially time to start embracing the holiday season! So lets kick start it with a trip to Mount Clare Museum House. Take a ride back in time to the late 1700’s and see how a prominent Baltimore family lived during the holiday season! This estate will be adorned with holiday favorites such as, wreaths, fancy fruits, and extravagant feathers! A true colonial holiday!
While you’re enjoying a blast from the past, this Saturday December 5 (11am to 4pm) you can purchase fresh wreaths, holy and more! There will also be a live music brought to you bye The Monumental City Ancient Fife and Drum Corps.

Museums are fun! Especially… Port Discovery, your ultimate, and family-friendly children’s museum. Open almost all day on the weekends, it is perfect for entertaining your little ones. This museum is huge, like three floors high huge! I think you could pack in loads of fun into that! They have over 13 interactive exhibits for you and your children to explore. These exhibits range from KidWorks where you can explore through a three-story tree house (count me in!) to The Oasis where you can take a breather, relax, and read a book. Everyday there are special and unique events you won’t want to miss out on, such as Circle Time where you can enjoy an interactive story. Port Discovery hosts field trips and Birthday parties too!
Come visit Port Discovery for a fun inside acitivites as our days become colder!
