The twin sister duo, FIONN, have found great success through their unique sound, relatable heartfelt lyrics, and undeniable drive. Raised within a musically driven family, Alanna and Brianne Finn-Morris have used their gifts since a young age. Taking to busking the streets at age twelve, the Vancouver natives quickly gained notoriety for their raw talent and stage presence. Releasing their first studio album in 2018, FIONN has since made their way back onto the stage after the pandemic hiatus, and has spent the last year writing and recording their new record “I Might Start Smoking.”
The sisters have deep-rooted, personal connections to the lyrics and showcase that within their music. “I Might Start Smoking” is a 12-track album with hit after hit. FIONN refreshes the sound of mainstream indie pop, taking a unique approach to their emotional and creative outlooks. Their compositions and lyricism give fans an insight into the journey of their music, while displaying their understandings of the world. “I Might Start Smoking” is a reflection of the open-ended brilliance FIONN showcases and a true indication of their limitless potential.
“I Might Start Smoking” is the perfect comeback album. FIONN‘s growth and dedication is adament in each track as they create songs that compliment their sound. From “I Might Start Smoking” to “Next Life,” FIONN gifts us 12 articulatory composed tracks. Their vibe resembles those of 2014-2016 summers, refurbishing what it means to intertwine alternative and pop. While I can confidently say that I enjoyed each song, my favorites are “2014”, “TAKE ME OUT!”, and “Runaway.” FIONN’s clean vocals and instrumentals make “I Might Start Smoking” an easy, energizing listen.
Cool info: “I Might Start Smoking” was produced by pop star, Carly Rae Jepson. (This makes so much sense).
