Eight years after their last LP, Empire Of The Sun, the iconic Australian electronic duo, is back with their fourth studio album, “Ask That God.” Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, who have been captivating audiences worldwide with their incredible live performances and catchy hits since 2007, are at the helm once again. Empire Of The Sun has been one of Australia’s most successful musical acts, achieving multi-platinum status globally. Released through Capitol Records, “Ask That God” captures a significant shift in consciousness, a theme deeply woven into their encapsulation of EDM music.
“Ask That God” is a 12-track, 43-minute listening time. Their standout track, and a past WLOY Song of the Week, “Cherry Blossom,” serves as a reminder to appreciate the beauty and wonder around us and not take it for granted. The song evokes feelings of renewal and the chance to bring positive changes, making it both touching and inspiring. The album’s third single, “Music on the Radio,” can be seen as a rebellious anthem, reflecting a teenager’s struggle against imaginary emotions. My personal favorite has to be “The Feeling You Get,” reminding me of Chappell Roan‘s newest hit, “Good Luck, Babe!” The duo’s newest album is a reminder of their success and popularity in contemporary pop and electronic music.
