Review:
Metric has thrived as an indie-rock/alternative band for decades now. One of the most recognizable songs is “Black Sheep” from the popular movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The slight synth-pop background makes their music especially unique, including “Victim of Luck,” one of their most underrated tracks. Their new album, “Romanticize The Dive,” is scheduled to be released this year on April 24th, including more songs like this one.

“Victim of Luck” feels a bit cinematic in my opinion. This song has a very similar vibe to songs you would hear in a coming-of-age movie. The song is ethereal with the combination of Emily Haines‘, the lead singers, vocals, and the background guitars playing in unison. The lyrics talk about a balance between chance and control. They follow the idea of being pushed through life and constantly fighting for control while being attacked by randomness.

I would definitely recommend giving this song a listen and following Metric and their new album release later this spring if you like bands like Phantogram, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Wet Leg. This music is perfect for the warm and sunny weather we have been seeing here in Baltimore recently!
