Review:

The Last Dinner Party, an alternative pop group originating from London and composed of Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar), Georgia Davies (bass), and Aurora Nishevci (keyboards, vocals), released their debut single “Nothing Matters,” kicking off their stellar career in 2023. Since their first release, the group has captivated audiences with their dramatic vocals and cinematic sound. After releasing their critically acclaimed debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy (2024), as well as multiple singles within that time. Their new album, From the Pyre, is receiving amazing reviews from some of the largest music critics within the industry, including a rating of 9/10 from blog Northern Transmissions.

From the Pyre is an album that almost feels theatrical and demands the listener’s full attention. The album provides the listener with energy that makes it a perfect listen for moments of drama or even if you just want to have it in the background when a task is at hand. Their signature sound is orchestrated in a darker tone and the fourth track “This is The Killer Speaking” really sets the scene for what the album exists to be. The groups addicting melodic hooks and passionate lyrics become instantly fixed in your mind. Compared to their previous album Prelude to Ecstasy released in 2024 which followed a more playful sound, this record stands out in their catalog for its heightened sense of urgency. From the Pyre is poised to be one of the most talked-about albums of the year, and I simply cannot recommend enough giving it a listen whenever you have the time.
