Staff Picks: Ethan’s Top 5

Hi, I’m Ethan, the Events Coordinator at WLOY, and here are my top 5 songs of the week!
5. “Stacy’s mom”– Fountains of Wayne: Do I even need to describe why this song is here? I think we all can agree this song is amazing from start to finish. The chorus is just such a classic and most people who hear it just have to sing along.
4. “House of the Rising Sun” – The Animals: I have family from Louisiana so whenever I hear this song I think of them. I called them this week and not even an hour later Spotify suggested this song. The song brings a familiar feeling when listening and it’s hard not to enjoy hearing that organ play!
3. “Mr. Blue Sky”– ELO: This song reminds me of just spending the day outside with friends having a good time. We played this song at Ultimate frisbee practice this week and people were just vibing having a good time. A classic that never gets old!
2. “Vienna”– Billy Joel: I chose this song because I heard it in class this week. I’m also a senior so it was a little different for me. The song is a metaphor for growing older, and with graduation coming up I can’t think of a better song!
AND MY #1. “Babylon”– Barns Courtney: The weather this week has been terrific, so I’ve been outside listening to music. I went back into the archives of liked songs and found this song again. I forgot how much I enjoyed this song, since the best part of the song is the instrumentals!
