Punk powerhouse Mannequin Pussy delivered an electrifying set at Baltimore Soundstage on January 31st. The band is currently touring the country for their latest album, I Got Heaven, proving once again why they’re one of the most exhilarating bands in the punk and indie rock scene. They tore through an energetic setlist, keeping the crowd in a never-ending state of elation.

This was my first time at Baltimore Soundstage, and I instantly fell in love with the venue’s atmosphere. The space had everything you’d want for a punk show—great sound systems, multiple bars, and awesome artwork and decorations that gave the venue character. It was the perfect balance between gritty and welcoming, adding so much to an already wonderful experience.

Kicking off the night was Militarie Gun, a garage punk rock band from Los Angeles, who set the tone with a raw and energetic performance. Their set was packed with punchy riffs and roaring songs. I walked in unfamiliar with their music, but I walked out a fan! By the time Mannequin Pussy took the stage, the crowd was electric. They opened with Softly, a dreamy and melodic song driven by shimmering guitar tones and Marisa Dabice’s vocals, which were both intimate and commanding. Up next was Sometimes, which leans more toward the indie rock side of their music. The track wrestles with frustration and self-doubt, and the band delivered it with raw intensity.

Mannequin Pussy didn’t just stick to tracks from I Got Heaven—they also tore through some fan-favorite songs from their earlier records. Drunk II from Patience was an undeniable highlight, with the entire venue screaming along to its chorus. Denial from Romantic still hit just as hard as ever. Loud Bark was another standout, starting off gentle and timid before exploding in anger and catharsis. When they played OK? OK! OK? OK!, the venue shook. This track leans into pure punk energy, wasting no time as it launches into a whirlwind of distorted guitars, pounding drums, and biting vocals. The relentless pace and raw aggression made it one of the most explosive moments of the night.

Between the band’s infectious chemistry and the sheer force of their sound, it was the kind of show that leaves your ears ringing and your heart racing—in the best way possible. Mannequin Pussy is touring the U.S. until June 12th before continuing in Europe, playing two shows in Ireland and two in the UK. If you get the chance to see them, I highly recommend it—you won’t regret it!
