TOKYO’S REVENGE, a twenty-year-old multigenre artist from Geffen Records, has recently released the music video for his new single “GOTHAM.” This rising artist is known and loved across the world, with his previous hit single “GOODMORNINGTOKYO!” reaching #2 on the Rolling Stone’s Trending 25 chart, #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50, and more.

Through Tokyo’s new rise to fame, he has remained anonymous, making fans more curious to know who he is. On September 16th, WLOY Loyola Radio was able to hear from TOKYO’S REVENGE speak about his musical background, influences, and inspirations.

With a recording setup in his bedroom and his talent for engineering his own songs, Tokyo has full creative control over what he produces. However, his music-making process is not like other artists’: Tokyo believes his best music is made when he is not thinking about music. This way, he is able to showcase who he is to the world through the art that he produces. Tokyo’s choice to remain anonymous supports this–he explains that he believes in speaking through music rather than social media.

Tokyo initially began his successful music career to fit in with his friends in highschool. Because of his bad ADHD, he found it was hard to find his place as a kid. In addition to being homeless at one point, he was forced to face a harsh reality at such a young age. Despite these hardships, Tokyo learned to turn his weaknesses into pulses that give him a hunger to never stop working. He later self-taught himself to engineer while couch surfing with his friends, beginning a journey that has led him to where he is today.

Tokyo’s past has shaped him to be a strong advocate for mental health, and he aims to relate to others through songs about heartbreak or betrayal. He writes lyrics that can connect to everyone, and he wishes to inspire his audiences like his musical influences, such as Eminem, Tyler the Creator, and Tame Impala, inspired him.

Tokyo’s love for DC Comics has also found his way into his creative style, as seen in “Gotham”’s cover art and action-packed music video where Tokyo himself has superhero abilities.

TOKYO’S REVENGE’s “GOTHAM” music video can be watched on YouTube and his single is available to stream now on all platforms.
