NBA: Back and bett…Well, It’s Back!

During the NBA Draft, questions were swirling that an NBA season may not be possible. With the end of the NBA Finals also came the end of the NBA Players Collective Bargaining Agreement. At the same instance, the NFL lockout had occurred and a heated battle had been underway.

So when Kyrie Irving, the number one overall pick in the NBA draft was selected by Cleveland, many Clevelander fans and NBA fans just did not know if they would ever see their new addition actually don the wine and gold. They didn’t know if it was possible to ever hear the opening line to this article.

Wacky Wednesday: The Nutshell Studies of Unexpected Death

Murder may not be necessarily wacky but what about miniature recreations of actual crime scenes perfected? Located on the third floor of the Maryland Medical Examiner’s office is a small group of horrors. It is an exhibit of actual handmade crime scenes. Frances Glessner Lee made these models in the late 1940’s. Lee was a vibrant woman, raised on Sherlock Holmes mysteries and a fascination surrounding sleuthing. The models are based on real crime scenes. Actual crime scene photographs, and sketches and statements from witnesses and police were used in recreating the actual crime scenes in these exhibits. Mayor’s Christmas Parade ’11

The fine folks in charge of the Mayor’s Christmas Parade invited little old us to join in the fun again.  Honored, and wiser after last year’s candy cane shortfall, we armed ourselves with 1,000 canes, plus little stuffed critters and fabulous snowballs.  Well… that didn’t last nearly as long as we hoped as the turnout (thanks to the above zero temps) was huge.  Some of the great kids in our (National Award Winning) What Happens Next? program came and walked with us, giving out candy like professional elves.  We also added tunes and put Santa Hillary in the sleigh to keep things lively.  Hillary appreciated all the attention but refuses to let us hand out her phone number guys, sorry.  Next year we need to spice it up even more… ideas?
