WLOY had the honor of welcoming a delegation of community radio broadcasters from Bangladesh yesterday.  Radio Jhenuk, Radio Padma, and Radio Mahananda operators along with a Senior Assistant Secretary from the Ministry of Information spent 2 hours in the station talking about community radio projects created by WLOY and the Baltimore Community Radio Coalition.  We discussed the evolution of our Both Feet In radio program and the creation of the Word on the Street newspaper resulting from it.  Simone Shook, co-founder of our What Happens Next? children’s radio program spoke about the goals and outcomes of the program, and we shared some of the children’s work.  Evon Hewitt, who worked with us to develop Dallas Nicholas Elementary School’s radio program. WDNR, described the success with children, and how the program was established.  John Devecka, Operations Manager of WLOY, described the evolution of the many community programs we run, including the Middle Grades Partnership summer radio boot camps, Roland Park Middle School Radio Plays, and more.  We think it went pretty well since when we finished they wanted to know how to send students to Loyola to study in the radio station!  We look forward to more program coordination with the US Department of State, and the International Visitor Leadership Programs.

We sent our visitors away with a gift bag of 4 WLOY programs on individual CDs, a copy of the latest Loyola magazine, the latest issue of Word on the Street.  They promise to stay in touch and let us know how they are doing as well.  We look forward to keeping track of them!
