WLOY Takes on CBI

October 22nd, 2015 by WLOY Staff

CBI

Its that time of year again! This Thursday through Saturday (Oct. 22-24) WLOY will be taking 6 lucky staffers to attend the College Broadcaster, Inc. (CBI) convention in Minneapolis. WLOY has been attending this conference for over 10 years!

CBI focuses on media groups within high school and colleges. They aim to educate students and advisers on the different and important elements of this industry. The conference focuses heavily on student participation involving training sessions, and a Q & A on technology.

This year Clinton Forry is the keynote speaker. Forry is an experienced broadcaster, writer, and producer; he will be contributing some very interesting material and topics to CBI this year!

WLOY will also there be to take a home a trophy (cheers!) for our promotional video! Very Exciting! On top of that, listen in on Friday to hear WLOY live from Minneapolis with possible band interviews!

Tourism Tuesday: Fells Point

October 13th, 2015 by WLOY Staff

Fellspoint What: Fells Point

Where: Main Street, Baltimore, MD

When: Anytime!

When in Baltimore one must stop by Fells Point (a personal favorite). The entire neighborhood is filled with character from the cobble stone streets, to the colorful townhouses with the unique doors. It is a historical neighborhood that began in 1726 when shipping company was built at its waterfront.

Fells is filled with pubs, restaurants, and boutiques. Dine at Alexander’s Tavern and enjoy their many different varieties of tatters tots … so good. Stop by One- Eyed Mikes for a drink afterwards and maybe sooth your palette with Pitango Gelato. For those music lovers, which I hope you all are, go to the Sound Garden and pick up your favorite vinyl.

Not in the mood to shop, eat or drink? That’s fine! Enjoy a trip on the Water Taxi, or a Baltimore Ghost Tour; quite fitting for October!

There is an ample amount to do and see when visiting Fells Point!
