The Good Natured: Skeleton EP

Up and coming band, The Good Natured, have been on the watch list of many music critics for their unique blend of keyboard driven melodies and thought-provoking lyrics into “dark electronic pop.” Having just been signed to the British label Parlophone, The Good Natured have released the seven track that make up their Skeleton EP. English lead singer and keyboardist, Sarah McIntosh, serves as the driving force behind the three-man band. Joined by her brother, Hamish, on bass and George Hinton, a friend from school, on drums, the trio formed The Good Natured and self-released their first EP in July of 2008. New Releases 10/23/2011

This weeks new releases include five up and coming artists. The musical styles range from folk to hard rock in the selections for this weeks best new releases. Sparkadia’s album The Great Impression is a folky light rock album comparable to Bon Iver. Wishes and Thieves Ep uses some ambient and surf rock undertones giving them a similar sound to Best Coast and Beach house. The Anthemeers are another folky light rock band, their style is very similar to Fleet Foxes and The Avett Brothers. Tuesday Boulevard is a harder rock band, their style is similar to the Pixies and Pavement. Last but not least Call To Attraction’s album This One’s For You is a punk album, it is very reminiscent of old Blink 182. Read the rest of this entry »

Around Loyola

As Fall Sports progress further into their season, I would like to stop and reflect upon our pride and joy, the Loyola Athletic Department and student athletes. In case you were wondering what fall sports we have other then soccer, Loyola also contains cross country and swimming that participate in the fall. I’ll update you on there records and how well they are progressing this semester. WU LYF – which stands for World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation – are the enigmatic, young Manchester-ites known as much for their crazy, beat-ridden brand of heavy pop music and incomprehensible, raspy vocals, as they are their unwillingness to talk to the press or reveal information about themselves. Intriguing, no? Sincerely mysterious or concocted as it may be, Go Tell Fire To The Mountain is still without a doubt one of the more powerful records this half of 2011.
