Being able to just hang out and listen to free music is pretty awesome. But free music at one of the coolest hangouts in Baltimore, Belvedere Square, is even better. Every Friday through August 30th, Summer Sounds at the Square will be live in Belvedere Square, featuring some of the most awesome local artists. The genres of music range from Classic Rock to Reggae and there’s even a Beetles cover band added into the mix. From 6-9pm be sure to head on down to Belvedere Square, on the corner of York Road and Belvedere Avenue for this great event that is in-part sponsored by Loyola University! Plus, Belvedere Square has tons of great shops and restaurants that will for sure keep you entertained. I mean, Atwaters in the Market at Belvedere has milkshakes that you could die for – so obviously even more reason to go.

Theater Thursdays: The Screen Painters w/ Little Castles
June 13th, 2013 by WLOY Staff
Creative Alliance at the Patterson
An artform born and raised here in good ol’ Bawlmore, Screen Painting is celebrating its 100th birthday (hey, that’s 10 times more than us!). To celebrate this unique and beautiful art form, the film The Screen Painters will be shown at the Creative Alliance at the Patterson. In short, homeowners would commission screen painters to create intricate designs on the doors of local homes so that passersby could not see in. Following the film will be a discussion with cinematographer Richard Chilsom and other scholars. The film is $12 dollars and will also feature the premiere of the film Little Castles – a film on Baltimore’s Formstone. Be sure to join the Creative Alliance again on Saturday, June 22nd for a tour of the Painted Screens of East Baltimore, costings $35. This event, unique to Baltimore, is one you certainly do not want to miss.

Honfest 2013
June 10th, 2013 by WLOY Staff
WLOY had a wonderful time supporting all our local “Hons” at our favorite Bawlmer event, Honfest! It was a spectacular 2 day event located on The Avenue right up the road in Hampden. Honfest goers loved our Loyola Listener cards and picked up a few free CDs we were giving out and signed up for our raffle for free tickets at Rams Head Live for shows like Foals, Say Anything, and Hit the Led Out. It was an overall great experience. Check out our photos below!
