National Awards Finalist – Voices of COVID-19

September 2nd, 2020 by The Professor

This just in! Breaking News! Stop the presses! The amazing student production “Voices of COVID-19” has just been selected a finalist at the National Student Production Awards! This fantastic piece has made it through the (inter)national competition to be one of 4 finalists in the Best Special Broadcast category and we’ll find out October 30th at the awards ceremony who wins the top prize.

Students in Professor Glick’s Radio Storytelling class started this semester with the plan to create a series of pieces focusing on different voices of Loyola and then a series of community voices. Then… things changed…a lot. When faced with the rapid changes and working from home, Professor Glick reoriented the class to tell their stories from where they were. So while we still have voices of Loyola, they are now voices from around the country and community. Listen in as the students report on healthcare providers, businesses, shopping, graduation and much more. Huge kudos to the students and Professor Glick from turning chaos into a fantastic set of voices and reports from around the country.

That was AWESOME! Seriously, it was better done than many tv interview shows and documentaries. I’m sure you all received well-deserved A’s. Well done!
