OK, I don’t think anyone really ever said that, but based on the mass display of beautiful twinkling lights, it wouldn’t surprise me! The Miracle on 34th street is a must see during the holiday season. Homes are covered in colorful, festive decorations and beautiful lights that will leave you full of holiday cheer! Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! There’s more where that came from at the Baltimore Zoo! You can see tons of different exhibits, including elephants, chimps, reptiles, and more! There are also fun opportunities such as feeding giraffes and penguins. The zoo’s goal is to care for and preserve the amazing animals that exist around the world, especially those whose populations are declining by the masses such our largest land mammals, the elephant. While some people may  say, “Once you’ve seen one aquarium, you’ve seen them all”, the Baltimore National Museum is especially worth seeing. Its exhibits include sea creatures from all over the world, and the museum works hard to help preserve our oceans and the species that inhabit them, which are increasingly disappearing as our environment changes. Located in the heart of Baltimore’s inner harbor, you can make a day, or even two, out of a day at the aquarium and all the fun things the harbor has to offer! Find out more here!

Located just outside of the Inner Harbor, Little Italy offers food, Bocce ball tournaments, food, Italian festivals, and oh, did I mention food? With 30 restaurants to choose from, you will find quintessential Italy right here in Baltimore. There’s far more too Little Italy than just the food, though. Go to the Learning Center for Italian language or culture classes, attend mass at the beautiful St. Leo’s Parish, or explore the many museums and historical sites! There are always fun street events and neighborhood processions going on in Little Italy, making it the perfect place to spend your day off. So, what is Little Italy in a nutshell? Did you know that renowned American poet, Edgar Ellen Poe, was one of Baltimore’s most famous residents? If you enjoy Poe’s work, or simply want to venture into history, pay a visit to Edgar Allen Poe’s gravesite and memorial. But don’t forget to bring a penny! Tradition tells that school children started collecting pennies to buy the poet a more proper grave, and since the 1870’s, visitors have been leaving pennies at on the grave to carry on and remember this thoughtful tradition! When you think of penguins, you probably think of icebergs, polar bears, and movies about a happy little tap-dancer. The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is showing penguins in a whole new light with their latest exhibit, Penguin Coast, a South-Africa-inspired habitat for African penguins, a penguin species unique to the African continent. Not only will the exhibit allows guests to get a much closer look at the adorable birds with its underwater viewing, wave action, and water features, but it will also provide resources for penguin housing, breeding, and care that will assist this endangered species. To find out more, visit the Maryland Zoo website!

The Evergreen Museum is just located right next to Loyola! It has a beautiful garden attached with an equally beautiful building. This building was owned by Baltimore’s Garrett family who ruled the railroads back in the day. So, you can guess how beautiful this house is on the inside! You are welcome to tour this beautiful home or just enjoy the grounds. (Fun Fact: Netflix’s House of Cards was filmed there.)
